Who runs Norfolk Senior Advisor?

Norfolk Senior Advisor is an independent senior care referral and advisory service for families on the Virginia side of Hampton Roads. Our advisors help families compare assisted living, memory care, nursing homes and in-home care, and we publish the public records behind every licensed provider in the 13 localities we cover.

We are not a facility operator, a government agency or a health system. We do not own or manage any community, and no community can pay to be listed, to rank higher or to have its inspection record left out. Every licensed provider in our coverage area appears in the directory whether or not it works with us.

How is a free senior care referral service paid?

Senior living communities pay us a referral fee when a family we introduced moves in. Families never pay us anything. We state this on every page because a referral fee is the most likely thing to bias advice, and you deserve to weigh our suggestions knowing it.

Two practical consequences. Some good options -- many small homes, most nursing homes and every public program -- pay no referral fee at all, and we will still tell you about them. And if an advisor ever pushes one building without a reason that makes sense to you, ask for the reason, and check the facility's VDSS or CMS record yourself; the links are on every listing.

What makes this site different from other Hampton Roads senior living directories?

Most directories list communities that advertise. Ours lists every assisted living facility and adult day center on the Virginia Department of Social Services roster and every CMS-certified nursing home, home health agency and hospice in our localities, with license terms, capacity and inspection data copied from the source.

The roster was last refreshed on October 28, 2026. Where a field is not published by the agency, we leave it blank rather than estimate it. We do not write reviews, assign our own ratings or publish testimonials we cannot attribute.

Which areas does Norfolk Senior Advisor serve?

We serve Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, Williamsburg and James City, York, Gloucester and Isle of Wight counties. Our coverage stops at the state line and does not include the Eastern Shore.

Families relocating a parent to Hampton Roads from elsewhere -- common with military households -- are welcome; Virginia's Auxiliary Grant has a 90-day residency rule worth knowing about before a move. Contact us through the contact page or the care-match questions on any page.
